Here’s what you need to apply:
- Your health card number and the health card number for your spouse and any dependents, if applicable
- Current insurance information
- A cheque for reference for bank deductions, or if you’re an Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) member, you have the option to deduct premiums from your pension

FAQs about joining
Can I apply for RTOERO membership and add insurance later?
Yes. You can get your membership anytime and add insurance when you’re ready. The guaranteed acceptance period for OCSTA members runs from July 1 to Aug. 31, 2025.
Membership is free until retirement or when you finish your trustee role—and the membership fee is waived when you join our group insurance program.
Will I be an RTOERO member when I join?
Yes, since you’re part of Canada’s education community, you will become an RTOERO member when you apply for insurance. Learn about the other benefits of membership.
I am already an RTOERO member, do I need to apply again?
If you’re already an RTOERO member, you’ll simply log in with your membership information to add insurance. When you get to the login screen, choose ‘Forgot your password’ to reset your password and access your account.
If you already have our insurance, there’s no need to do anything! You’re covered.
